5-Minute Meditation
If you need to calm during a hectic moment, a quick meditation can help to relax and soothe you.
Whatever you are doing, stop and sit down. Put your hands in your lap and close your eyes. Make sure you are sitting in your chair, back straigh (no slouching) and pull in your tummy.
Breathe in slowly, feeling the air enter your lungs. Hold your breath for 2 seconds and slowly exhale, feeling the air leave your body. Concentrate on just your breathing and nothing else. Hear your breath enter and exit your lungs as you keep your eyes closed. Feel your body relax as you concentrate on just your breathing. Continue to do this for 2 minutes, allowing your body to relax and slow down.
Once you feel you are relaxed, think of something that can bring a smile to your face; a happy thought; Then concentrate on it; whether it be a sunny day at the beach, reading your favorite book by a fireplace or just lounging with your loved one, cuddling. Embrace that feeling and remember the emotion you have when you are in your happy thought. Concentrate on that thought for a minute, then open your eyes and slowly stretch allowing your body to wake up again.
